Happy Mothers Day!
Happy Mothers Day to all you Mom’s and future Mom’s! I hope everyone had a great day, just as I did. My celebrating started Friday night (my specialty is dragging out holidays as long as possible). We went to Tepanyaki for dinner. The kids thought it was so cool, watching the guys cook and throw things in the air. Natalya was a little unsure, but all the cooks and waiters gave her lots of attention, since she is so cute and all. We had way too much food, and have been eating it for the last two days. Tanner is still talking about how the cook threw a shrimp at him to catch in his mouth, but it ended up on the floor. And my skilled husband was the only one at the table that caught his.
Saturday, Trent and Tanner went out shopping for random stuff. When they got home, Tanner could not contain his excitement, “Mommy, look at the presents we bought you” and pulled out the Enchantment DVD and a little candle. Trent picked out the DVD, and it was Tanners idea to get the candle “because it was green”, I love it because for some reason it smells like really manly men’s cologne, and in a good way.
Sunday, my plan was to sleep in until 8am (we have church at 9). So I got everything ready the night before, church bag, clothes, and I showered. Tanner has been getting up at 6:45 this whole week, and of course, I woke up at 8 and everyone else was still asleep until 8:15! So I STILL had to get up before everyone else, boo. Trent made me as nice of a breakfast as he could in 10 min. Fried eggs, sausage and toast… yum! Anyway, there were some really nice talks about Mom’s at church, and all the mom’s received a cd of songs sung by the kids in our ward as a gift.
After church we watched the Jazz game (and they beat LA again!) and Trent went to work on dinner. I made some requests, but I let Trent have free reign. I think he outdid himself this time, as you can see from the pictures. And he did it all himself, I was upstairs the whole time (granted, I didn’t take picture of the rest of the kitchen). Baked potatoes, onion tomato salad, artichokes, chicken keiv, and fancy juice with raspberries floating in it. He better be careful or I will make him do dinner every night! I am stuffed, but he promised me stove popped popcorn tonight, so I better do some jumping jacks or something. And yes Bishop, he did the dishes (during halftime of the Spurs game).
And a tribute to our Mom’s: As I get older, I realize just how much Mom’s do. Especially after Trent’s sisters wedding, I realize what Mom’s will do that you don’t always notice. I am so grateful for the work my Mom and Trent’s mom put into each occasion, and each child. Growing up everyone says ” Oh, I am not going to be like my Mom”, but I am realizing I am like my Mom, and that is a good thing. My Mom has taught me to have fun! I know that a lot of the fun things I do with my kids comes from my Mom doing fun things with me. I have realized one of the reasons why Trent is such a great husband is because the of the love that his Mom showed him. We are so blessed!
